Hedge Pruning Tips

  • Prune early and often.
  • Allowing plants to grow tall quickly and pruning later will lead to a sparse hedge.
  • Regular light cuts keep hedges tidy and prevent them getting out of hand.
  • Overgrown hedges are more expensive to prune and are difficult to bring back to the originally intended height, width and standard.
  • Evergreen formal hedges should be pruned two to four times per year.
  • Conifers such as leylandii will soon revert back to tree if not kept in check.
